HUS Laboratory of Genetics at HUS (Helsinki University Hospital) Diagnostic Center is a SFS-EN ISO 15189:2022 accredited laboratory providing diagnostic and follow-up genetic testing services to all patients at Helsinki University Hospital area. The services include analysis of both constitutional samples and malignancies.
With this request for information, HUS launches a market consultation to prepare a procurement. The aim of this prior information notice is to find suppliers operating in this field of business, get information of the solutions available in the market, and inform our plans and requirements for the forthcoming procurement.
SUBJECT OF PROCUREMENT
Currently, the Laboratory of Genetics utilizes oligos and probes in several laboratory processes including Sanger sequencing, fragment analysis, and quantitative PCR. By using next generation sequencing (NGS) more and more new variants (point mutations, indels, fusions) are detected and used for family screening and follow-up in malignancies. The oligos used in the laboratory are custom DNA oligos (average length 20-40 bp), labelled oligos and probes for TaqMan and MGB (minor groove binder) assays.
The Laboratory of Genetics is seeking a full-service solution for ready-to-use custom DNA oligos and probes for specified DNA/RNA variants (including gene fusions). The estimated annual volume is approximately 500 custom DNA oligos, 20 labelled custom DNA oligos and 20 probes.
This request for information is released for preliminary evaluation and market research for potential solutions for planning, synthesizing and pre-validating custom DNA oligo and probe process of HUS. The main objectives of this request for information are:
1) To obtain information on available design services for custom oligos and probes based on specified DNA/RNA variants, including unlabeled oligos, oligos with 5' and/or 3' labels, and TaqMan and MGB probes
2) To obtain information on the synthesis of custom oligos and probes, including available labels, scales, concentrations, purification methods, delivery formats and packaging options.
3) To obtain information on pre-validation of custom oligos and probes.
RESPONSES TO THE REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Respondents may attach product and service brochures or other relevant supporting material to their response. Responses are requested to be submitted by 17 August 2026 at 12.00 (UTC +2) at the latest, to the email address [email protected]
The title or message field of the e-mail should mention: Request for information: HUS 250-2026 Oligos and probes for PCR and qPCR
INFORMATION FOR THE PROCEDURE
This notice is not a call for tenders.
HUS may specify the subject of the procurement in a subsequent contract notice. The requirements for a subsequent procurement and invitation to tender will be determined on the basis of the needs of the contracting entity, with the aim of taking into account the information obtained in the market survey. This notice provides the information currently held by the contracting entity on the procurement to operators on the market. The procurement is in the planning stage and the plans, with their schedules and information, can still be specified and changed.
The request for information does not oblige the procurement unit to carry out the actual procurement, but the decision to initiate a possible procurement process is made separately. Neither the request for information nor its replies are binding on either party. Responding to a request for information does not affect the position of the tenderer in the forthcoming tender.
The costs associated with responding to a request for information are borne by the respondent, and HUS does not pay compensation for responding to a request for information or participating the procurement procedure.
